Best Practices for Component Storage

Most common problems with storage of components include:
  • Removing reels from inventory or moving small quantities of parts from reels to smaller kitting structures.
  • Loose sample parts in bags, small trays or boxes.
  • Extra parts shipped in bags or short pieces of tape.
To avoid errors, we suggest storing your components in two separate areas:

Inventory Stock
This area is used to hold larger quantities of parts typically on reels and less than full reel lengths of tape. These items are used when building larger lots or when a smaller lot requires a large number of a single part.

Engineering Stock
Clear plastic pill boxes with a tight lid like the one below are ideal for
storing loose parts:

These boxes can then be organized by project using sachetel cases such as:

Also, "part folders" can be used and then organized within a sturdy
cardboard box like the one below.

Best Practices for Kitting Components

Advanced Assembly provides custom kitting labels for all consignment orders. These labels are emailed to you once the order is place and files are received. This one-of-a-kind service improves accuracy and avoids one of the most common assembly ordering mistakes: parts arriving without any kind of packing list documentation.

 Our custom kitting labels are:
  • Marked with your specific job number
  • Bar coded for easy receiving
  • Created directly from your BOM and each includes:
    • reference designators,
    • part numbers,
    • value
    • and quantities
